The Neuharts are graphic and exhibition designers, teachers, and authors of the definitive Eames book, Eames Design (Abrams). John worked full-time at the Eames office in Los Angeles from 1957 until 1961.
máXimo is the official agent to the Estate of Alexander Girard and is responsible for re-introducing Girard designs to the contemporary marketplace. Girard was not a self promoter and his work at Herman Miller and elsewhere was geared towards the exclusive contract world and interior designers.
The following essay was written in 1975 by the textile designer, Jack Lenor Larsen. It was published in the DESIGN QUARTERLY #98/99 by the Walker Art Center, in conjection with its exhibition NELSON EAMES GIRARD PROPST: The Design Process at Herman Miller. ALEXANDER GIRARD
ALEXANDER SANDRO GIRARD (1907-1992), textile designer, architect, collector, graphic and exhibition designer, is best known as one third of the Herman Miller company s legendary postwar triumvirate (along with George Nelson & Charles Eames).
Girard s elaborate redesign of Braniff Airlines in 1965 inspired a Girard furniture group at Herman Miller in 1967, using many of the popular designs from Braniff VIP lounges, with different upholstery applications.
